The “American Idol” host and producer Ryan Seacrest visited “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday. On this occasion, the TV mogul opened up about the Kardashians, the controversy around “In My Feelings Challenge” and how he ended up in Drake’s video, and why he once wore his girlfriend’s clothes!
During the show, Seacrest wore a very fashionable black jacket and trendy sneakers while talking about his life between New York and Los Angeles. Due to his show “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” Seacrest is living in New York, but he’s still traveling back and forth from LA to visit his girlfriend Shayna Taylor.
He then went on to explain that the last time he visited his girlfriend, he decided to surprise her with a romantic dinner. And we know how fashionable Ryan Seacrest is, so he was looking in his closet for something special to wear. He found a shirt he didn’t recognize at the time but put it on because, as he explained to Fallon, it was “very soft” and had “a nice dip.”
“I put it on and I’m so proud of it and I’m standing by the grill and I say, ‘Hey babe, what kind of kebab would you like?’ and she says, ‘Why are you wearing my shirt?’ I was wearing her shirt and I was actually kind of proud of it,” Seacrest revealed. Jimmy Fallon and the audience laughed, and the late-night host asked Ryan about his role as executive producer of the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
The popular reality show is one of Ryan Seacrest’s biggest contributions to the world. He then explained to Fallon how Larry King, Seacrest’s close friend, once organized a dinner party and invited many people, including Sidney Poitier and foreign leaders. During the night, King asked his guests to introduce themselves to each other and everyone would say what they’ve contributed. “And I’m thinking, ‘Well I haven’t done anything.’ So I say, ‘Have you heard of the Kardashians?’ and all of them say, ‘Yeah,’ and I say ‘Well, I helped create that.'”
Speaking of the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian had recently phoned into “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” when she revealed that the season 15 of the show might be the most intense yet. One of the things she mentioned to Ryan was that cameras were rolling when the family found out about Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s cheating scandal. The Cavs player was caught cheating on Khloe just a few days before their daughter, True, was born in April 2018.
“We definitely all had that conversation and honestly I don’t want to give too much away because we genuinely had those conversations and sometimes we were filming and sometimes we weren’t and it was more maybe when Khloé wanted her privacy and no cameras when she was in Cleveland going through that, but the sisters were still all filming and talking [about] how to approach it and what to do,” Kim shared.
She also confirmed that the scandal would play out on KUWTK. “It was definitely new territory for us when you have a new baby coming into the world. I think ultimately, we always want her to be happy, but it gets all clouded when there’s a baby and, you know? Her motherly instincts kicked in and she has to do what makes her happy, so we’ll support that.”
Fallon then asked Seacrest about the craze around his #InMyFeelings Challenge video. “I go up on a rooftop in New York, and I put on my best music video outfit, no dip to this,” Seacrest said. “I’m so proud of it and I’m not a good dancer, but I’m so proud. So, I post it. I’ve never been shamed so much in my life. I didn’t want to leave the apartment.”
But despite what haters were saying, something good came out of this situation. “The only good that came out of it was I got this urgent email from Drake Enterprises. ‘Hey, we saw your moves. We’d like to put it in the music video,’” he said, before joking, “I knew that was coming.”
The eight-minute video for the song is filled with celebrity cameos, including a compilation of some of the most notable celebrity dance challenges (and that includes Ryan Seacrest, Shiggy, Will Smith, DJ Khaled and many others). But the video is more than just a compilation of dance dares, as it tells the story of Drake professing his love for Kiki, played by La La Anthony.
