The Flash to Introduce Godspeed Later This Season

The Flash’s roster of villains is about to get even bigger as recent reports indicate that The CW superhero show is set to introduce Godspeed later this season. News on Godspeed’s first appearance in the series broke following reports that the show had begun filming an episode that was also entitled “Godspeed” earlier this week. Rumors of the villain’s appearance were confirmed by set photos, which featured Godspeed in his iconic white and gold costume. The character is shown to be standing next to a poster advertising the Flash Museum, indicating that he will probably appear in a scene set in the future. The episode, which is scheduled to air sometime in March, will also feature the directorial debut of Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost in the series.

Godspeed first appeared in issue three of The Flash’s Rebirth series. The alter ego of police detective August Heart, Godspeed got his powers in a Speed Force storm. Murdering criminals and stealing the powers of other speedsters, Heart was eventually imprisoned by the Flash. While in prison, Heart realized the error of his ways, emerging as an unlikely ally of the Flash. Godspeed joins an increasingly large roster of villainous speedsters that have appeared on The Flash. In addition to Godspeed, the Flash and his allies have tangled with Reverse Flash, Zoom, Savitar, and the Rival throughout The Flash‘s five season run.

Godspeed is just one new evil speedster that the show will introduce in the coming months. In an episode that aired in early January, the show hinted at the imminent arrival of the Red Death. As fans of DC Comics know, the Red Death is an evil version of Bruce Wayne/Batman who first appeared in the comic book series Dark Nights: Metal by Scott Snyder. While Bruce Wayne has been mentioned in The CW’s Arrowverse, the character has never appeared on any of the five shows in the network’s shared universe.

The Flash is currently on hiatus and will return on March 5 with the episode entitled “King Shark vs. Gorilla Grodd.”
